abstract
PURPOSE: To report a technique to remove a dislocated ganciclovir implant in the vitreous cavity. METHODS: Retrospective case series. PATIENTS: Two patients with dislocated ganciclovir implants in the vitreous cavity. RESULTS: A 6mm pars plana incision was made, the soft tip was used to elevate the implant behind the intraocular lens and then 0.12mm forceps were used to externalize the implant. The implant was successfully removed in both patients. DISCUSSION: Removal of a dislocated ganciclovir implant with its encasing strut can be effectively retrieved using a bimanual approach.
