Minimal-incision open carpal tunnel decompression.

Overview
abstract
A modification of the classic open carpal tunnel decompression is reported. This procedure provides for direct visualization of the carpal ligament and median nerve using a small palmar incision. Postoperative discomfort and scarring are diminished. The small dressing, without splinting, permits rapid return to usual daily activities, and time lost from work is minimized. For those who regard endoscopic decompression as a "blind" procedure, this technique provides for a direct approach with minimal morbidity.
